Lately, my diet + way of eating is changing. I’ve been adding more home-brewed probiotics like kombucha + kefir along with herbs, beneficial fats, superfoods + more to my diet in unique + uncommon ways.
While sitting with a friend discussing my website, the topic of coffee came up. She mentioned a way to make coffee that would sustain her through the day, increase her energy + mental focus, give her good healthy fats, supercharge her body + make her feel great. Recently, I upgraded my coffee by purchasing organic high-quality + freshly roasted beans to make Kombucha Koffee (probiotic coffee made from freshly brewed organic coffee, sugar + SCOBY) , but I want to learn more about this supercharged + life-enhancing method of making + drinking coffee that could also help in weight loss. I wanted to know more so she told me about the way of “bulletproof coffee.”
I tried the method of making coffee using organic virgin coconut oil + high quality unsalted butter . . . yes, I added coconut oil + butter to my coffee! I then added raw wildflower honey, pure vanilla + cinnamon. I was both amazed + surprised how frothy, light + tasty this coffee was . . . not to mention the energy I had!!!
The process a little time consuming; however, I usually take about an hour each morning preparing my food for the day . . . so I just went with the flow.
To ensure a power-packed + balanced morning, I make + drink a green smoothie before consuming the coffee. Then only drink liquids until 2p (including homemade bone broth, herbal tea, whey protein (from organic milk kefir) + lemon water). I eat my first meal of the day somewhere around 2p (more about this later). I break my fast with a fermented food like homemade kimchi + fermented rice, then proceed to eat my fruit + avocado, salad + whatever else I prepared for the day, along with home-brewed kombucha, green coffee + more alkaline water. Now you see why it takes me so about an hour in the morning to prepare my lunch bag.
Below is my version of Power Coffee:
brew 1 cup of good, quality coffee using filtered or alkaline water.
1 to 2 tablespoons organic virgin coconut oil or my version of Udo’s 3-6-9 Oil Blend.
1 to 2 tablespoons of quality unsalted butter (Kerrygold or other butter from grass-fed cows) is recommended. I sometimes use raw butter.
1 rounded tablespoon of organic raw wildflower honey (I get my local raw honey from Jersey Buzz). Feel free to use any sweetener like Stevia, Agave or Grade B Maple syrup. After adding the first 4 ingredients . . . start blending.
a dash of quality pure vanilla, cinnamon, ganoderma lucidum, bovine colostrum + purple corn powder.
after the coffee is made I add about 3 ounces of kombucha koffee. I add it last when the coffee is cooler . . . you don’t want to heat kombuch koffee above 85° because you will destroy the good bacteria + healthy flora. The kombucha koffee helps eliminate acid reflux that can be caused by coffee + oils.
This coffee looks + feels like a latte and tastes delicious! Try it + make it your own by adding any beneficial ingredients you’d like. Let me know if you make it.
Grass-fed butter is much healthier than other butter + IMO raw butter from grass fed-cows is even better! It doesn’t make cholesterol levels worse, it optimizes them! Starting your day with grass-fed butter will give you lots of energy + it will give your body healthy fats that it will use to make cell walls + hormones.
Many of our bodies are starved for healthy fats. It may take your body a week or two to fully turn on its fat digestion systems when you switch to a high healthy fat breakfast including quality butter + oil. If at first it is a little too rich, try using less butter + oil initially then build up to the amount you like.
